Like tell a story about what I consider to be pretty much the essence, and this took place about 12 years separate, when Keenie decided that she was going to retire from the real estate business. Well, I'm not sure whether it was her decision, or whether we all hope, but at any rate it was decided that we would have a surprise retirement party.

So things were put in motion and I'm gonna leave some people out because I can't remember them. But I'm going to include some people that I do. And the 1st person is Alison Hildrerth, who was charged with getting Keenie out of the camp which is not an easy job, but anyway, she took Katie out for lunch, and to get her nails and toenails done

Once she left, we started into action. The food was prepared, and I believe it was prepared at all 3 camps to have a party after she came back. And the house was decorated, and there were a lot of people that were involved in preparation of this.

And then course, this being a Cabell party, it would not be complete without a play being thrown, and the play was written by Will and his daughter Hannah.

 

And it included a whole bunch of people. I know that Ellie was one of them. I can't remember what she did, but there was a telephone call involved. I know that Daniel was involved in this, and he showed up in a complete scuba diving outfit with a lobster in hand.  

 

And there was, of course, music. and the music was. The songs were songs that we all knew, but the words were, of course, different, and Will had a big hand in writing the songs. And there was a chorus, and I know that one of the leading and most boisterous people in the chorus was Norton Cabell.

 

So, anyway, this thing was proceeding along great and there was a role for the young children, of course. and the role was that of the loons. and so the young children were a bevy of a pack, or whatever you call them, a whole bunch of loons.

And who made the loon decorations,? Will Cabell.

 

Anyway, we had a problem. We had one more actor than we had. and so the adults came up with a easy solution. They would ask the youngest of the children to sit out that part of it, and and that was a very logical thing for an adult to do.

 

It was not at all acceptable for one of the youngest who was Emmi, who said, If my, if my sister Alina is going be asked to sit out the play,  I'm not gonna be involved. . There was a fairly large crisis here, because we wanted to make sure that all of the children would be involved. And so while the adults were kind of trying to figure out how to make this thing work out.

Will did what he is so good at doing. He simply sat down and made another hat gave it to Alina, so that every every person could be involved in this theatrical production.

 

And you know, I think, that really exemplifies the essence of work, and that he had the writing skills helped write a play along with Hannah. Created some of the songs that we all that the chorus sang oh, made all of these great decorations, but most important, he saw that all of the young children would be involved in this production.

And so that's my remembrance of Will.
